Exam Pattern

WB SI Recruitment 2021: Exam Pattern

The west Bengal SI recruitment (also called WBP SI Recruitment) process shall consist of following stages:

• Preliminary Examination (screening examination)

• Physical Measurement Test (PMT),

• Physical Efficiency Test (PET),

• Final Combined Competitive Examination (to be conducted by the West Bengal Police Recruitment Board.)

• Personality Test (conducted by the West Bengal Police Recruitment Board.)

A. Preliminary Examination: (Total Marks - 200):-

Eligible Candidates would be called for a Preliminary Examination (screening test for appearing into Physical Measurement Test and Physical Efficiency Test.). The total duration/interval of the examination will be of 90 minutes.

Note:

• The marks secured in prelims examination will not be counted for determining the final merit list.

• There will be a NEGATIVE marking of ¼th marks for every incorrect answer marked by the candidate in the preliminary examination.

B. Physical Measurement Test (PMT) & Physical Efficiency Test (PET): -

The Physical Measurement Test (PMT) (relating to height, weight and chest) of the candidates qualified in the Prelims exam shall be taken. Only the qualified candidates in the PMT will be eligible for appearing in the PET (Physical Efficiency Test).

Note: Only those candidates who qualify both PMT & PET would be eligible for appearing in the Final Combined Competitive Examination.

C. Final Combined Competitive Examination (Total Marks - 200):

The Final Combined Competitive Examination shall consist of 3 papers (having conventional type questions):

a) Paper-I: General Studies and Arithmetic consisting of 100 marks (of which 50 marks will be allotted to General Studies, and 25 marks to Logical & Analytical reasoning and the rest 25 marks are for Arithmetic). This section will be of 2 hours duration.

b) Paper-II: In this paper, only 1 section of English would be there having 50 marks of 1 (one) hour duration.

c) Paper-III: This paper would have 1 section of Bengali/Hindi/Urdu/Nepali of 50 marks of 1 (one) hour duration.

Note: All the above 3 papers of the Final Combined Competitive Examination will be held on the same day.

The Paper I (General Studies & Arithmetic) of the Final Combined Competitive Examination would be held in 3 languages (English, Bengali and Nepali).

D. Personality Test: (Total Marks - 30):

Candidates selected on the basis of results of Final Combined Competitive Examination would be called for the Personality Test. In this Personality Test, candidate’s ability to speak fluently in Bengali would be tested.

Note:

• The minimum passing mark for the personality test will be 08 out of 30.

• Candidates failing to secure minimum passing marks in the personality test would be disqualified (irrespective of marks obtained in the Final Combined Competitive Examination).

The final merit list would be prepared on the basis of the total marks obtained by selected candidates in the 3 papers of Final Combined Competitive Examination and the marks obtained in Personality test. Candidates failing to secure minimum passing marks in the personality test will be rejected.

• On its home page, click on the tab named ‘Recruitment’.

• Thereafter click on the tab named ‘Get Details’ under the tab "Recruitment to the post of Sub-Inspector / Sub-Inspectress (Unarmed Branch) and Sergeant in Kolkata Police 2021"

• After that click on the tab ‘Get Details’ under ‘Fill-up Application Form online’ & register yourself.

Syllabus of Preliminary examination

1. Paper I of the Final Combined Competitive Examination

General Studies and Arithmetic: -
(a) General Studies: -

In this section, Questions will be designed to test the General Knowledge of the candidates in different spheres such as Politics, Science, Economics, Current Events, Inventions and Discoveries, Economics, History, Culture and Art etc

(b) Logical & Analytical Reasoning: -

Here, Questions will be designed to test the logical and analytical ability of the candidates.

(c) Arithmetic: -

Questions will be asked on the basis of the syllabus of Madhyamik Examination of the West Bengal Board of Secondary Education.

2. Paper II & Paper III of the Final Combined Competitive

Paper II (English): Questions would be asked on any or all of the following topics:

a. Report Drafting from the points or material shared in the question paper.

b. Translation Questions (from Bengali/Hindi/ Urdu/ Nepali languages into English Language)

c. Making a prose passage (summary/precis) from a given paragraph.

d. Candidates should be able to make Correct use of words, correction of sentences, use of common phrases, synonyms and antonyms etc.

Paper III (having questions in Bengali / Hindi /Urdu /Nepali):

Questions would be asked on all or any of the following items:

a. Report Drafting from the points or material shared in the question paper.

b. Translation Questions (from English language to Bengali/Nepali language and translation from Hindi/Urdu to Bengali language as per language selection)

The translation question will be of 20 (twenty) marks.

Eligibility Criteria

West Bengal Police SI Recruitment 2021: Eligibility Criteria

Below mentioned are the West Bengal Police qualification criteria which needs to be fulfilled before applying for the vacancies.

A. NATIONALITY:

The Applicant must be a citizen of India.

B. AGE LIMIT:

The applicant must be above 20 years of age & less than 27 years as on 01.01.2021.

Upper age limit of the candidate is relaxable by 5 years (for SC and ST tribes) and by 3 years (for OBC candidates of only West Bengal).

For departmental candidates (of Kolkata Police), the upper age limit is relaxed upto 35 years (if having requisite qualification).

The upper age limit would be further relaxed for the departmental candidates by 5 years for SC/ST and by 3 years for OBC applicants.

Note: Those Departmental candidates who have previously appeared 3 times in the recruitment process of Sub-Inspector/Sub-Inspectress (Unarmed Branch) and Sergeant in Kolkata Police (conducted by PSC or formerly KPRB) will not be eligible to apply again.

C. Educational Qualification:

The candidates applying for this post must have a bachelor’s degree (in any discipline) from a recognized university.

D. Language:

(i) The candidate should be able to fluently speak, read and write Bengali Language (not applicable for permanent residents of hill sub-divisions of Darjeeling and Kalimpong Districts)

(ii) For candidates of hill sub-divisions of Darjeeling and Kalimpong District, the provisions of West Bengal Official language Act, 1961 shall be applicable.
