1. The Assam Cabinet, chaired by Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma, approved a 3% reservation for these communities in state government jobs. This reservation will be available to 'tea tribes' and 'tribals' included in the state's OBC list. This will provide better representation to youth living in tea plantation areas in government services and improve their educational and economic status. This decision by the Assam government will ensure long-term benefits for the state's over 1 million tea plantation workers and their families. India is the world's second largest tea producer. India ranks first in the world in the production and consumption of black tea. The Tea Board of India was formed on April 1, 1954.

2. In-Solutions Global Ltd (ISG) has received full approval from the Reserve Bank of India (RBI) for all categories of payment aggregators. Online Payments (PA-O): For e-commerce and digital transactions. Physical or Offline Payments (PA-P): For in-store and physical retail payments. Cross-Border Payments (PA-CB): To facilitate international import-export transactions. With this approval, ISG joins a select group of non-bank fintech companies that can provide a Unified Payment Stack domestically and internationally. It is a service provider that brings together multiple merchants on a single platform and manages funds. It collects funds from customers and settles them into merchants' bank accounts

3. Atal Innovation Mission under NITI Aayog released its flagship coffee table book 'AI-Preneurs of India' during the 'India AI Impact Summit 2026' held at Bharat Mandapam, New Delhi. The book chronicles the entrepreneurial journey of 45 leading AI startups, their struggles and successes. Atal Innovation Mission is a flagship initiative of the Government of India established in 2016 under NITI Aayog to promote a culture of innovation and entrepreneurship across the country. India's first overseas Atal Innovation Centre was inaugurated at IIT Delhi-Abu Dhabi campus.

4. Airtel Money is Bharti Airtel's flagship financial services arm, primarily operating as a digital wallet. It recently received a Type-II NBFC license from the RBI. Airtel Money Limited, a subsidiary of Bharti Airtel, received a Certificate of Registration (CoR) to operate as a Type-II non-deposit-taking NBFC (NBFC-ND). This approval allows Airtel Money to provide loans and other regulated financial services without accepting public deposits. Regulatory Framework: This permission has been granted under Section 45-IA of the RBI Act, 1934. This license will allow Airtel Money to offer digital lending, insurance distribution, and other credit-based products.

5. India has commissioned its first private sector helicopter final assembly line (FAL) with the inauguration of the Airbus H125 plant in Vemagal, Karnataka. The plant, owned by Tata Advanced Systems Limited (TASL), was inaugurated virtually by Prime Minister Narendra Modi and French President Emmanuel Macron. It is a joint venture between Tata Advanced Systems Limited (TASL) and European giant Airbus. The world-famous H125 helicopter (famous for landing on Mount Everest) and its military version, the H125M, will be assembled here. The plant aims to produce 500 helicopters over the next 20 years, with the first 'Made in India' helicopter expected to be delivered in early 2027.

6. The Earthshot Prize 2026 award ceremony will be held in Mumbai, India in November this year. This is the first time an Asian city is hosting this prestigious global environmental award. Each of the five winners receives £1 million (approximately ₹11 crore) for their environmental solutions. It was launched in 2020 by Prince William and The Royal Foundation. Its main objective is to find and promote solutions to Earth's biggest environmental problems over the next decade (by 2030). The Earthshot Prize is considered the world's most prestigious environmental award, also known as the 'Nobel Prize of the Environment'.

7. Delhi Chief Minister Rekha Gupta was honored with the 50th Matrishree Award. This honor was given to her for her outstanding work for the society and the public. The Chief Minister was honored with a statue of Bharat Mata and a shawl. The Matrishree Award was started in the year 1975 by the late Dinesh Sharma, a senior journalist of Punjab Kesari. His aim was to honor individuals who have done outstanding work in the field of society and journalism. In the past, many dignitaries including LK Advani, Sushma Swaraj, Arun Jaitley, Madanlal Khurana, Sahib Singh Verma, Rajat Sharma, Khushwant Singh and Sarla Maheshwari have been honored with this honor.

8. Iran announced the temporary closure of the Strait of Hormuz amid ongoing indirect nuclear talks with the US in Geneva. The Strait of Hormuz connects the Persian Gulf to the Gulf of Oman and the Arabian Sea. About a fifth of global petroleum trade passes through the Strait. Uranium enriched to 90% purity is considered weapons-grade. Oman has historically played a mediating role between the US and Iran.
