Exam Pattern

SELECTION PROCEDURE:

The Selection process will consist of online tests (Preliminary and Main Examination). Thereafter, candidates qualifying the Main examination will be further shortlisted for Regional Language Test.

Phase-I: Preliminary Examination (Online):

Preliminary Examination consisting of Objective Tests (Multiple Choice type Questions) for 100 marks will be conducted online. This test would be of 60 minutes duration consisting of 3 sections (with separate timings for each section) as follows:

Candidates will have to qualify in each test/section by securing passing marks to be decided by the Company. Adequate number of candidates state-wise and category-wise as decided by the Company (approximately 15 times the numbers of vacancies subject to availability) will be shortlisted for the Main Examination.

Phase – II: Main Examination (Online)

Main Examination will consist of Objective Tests (Multiple Choice type Questions) for 200 marks. The duration of examination would be of 120 minutes duration (separate time for each test / section) and will consist of 5 sections as follows

  • National Insurance Company reserves the right to modify the structure of the examination which will be intimated through its website.
  • The questions except for the test of English Language will be made available in English & Hindi.
  • Each candidate will be required to obtain a minimum total score (as decided by the Company) in the Main Examination
  • Candidates qualifying in the online Main Examination will be shortlisted and called for Regional Language Test, before final selection. No separate marks will be awarded for Regional Language Test. This test will be only qualifying in nature.
  • Final selection would be made based on the performance in the online Main Examination & qualifying in the Regional Language Test. Merely satisfying the eligibility norms do not entitle a candidate to be called for online examinations & Regional Language Test.
  • In case of equal marks scored by the last two or more candidates in the merit list, the candidate senior most in age will be shortlisted for further process of recruitment.
  • There will be penalty for wrong answers marked in both Preliminary & Main online objective examination. For each question for which a wrong answer has been given by the candidate, one fourth of the marks assigned to that question will be deducted as penalty to arrive at corrected score. No marks will be deducted for un-attempted questions.
  • The Final Merit List state-wise and category-wise shall be prepared in descending order of the marks secured by the candidates in the Online Main Examination subject to qualifying the Regional Language Test. Candidates who fall within the number of vacancies in the Merit List shall be considered for appointment subject to Medical Fitness. Candidates will be intimated of the same through the Company’s website. The candidates are requested to check the website regularly.
  • A Contingency List of candidates may also be prepared and may be utilized in the event of non-acceptance of employment offer by the candidates selected in the Final Merit List.

REGIONAL LANGUAGE TEST:

Candidates shortlisted in the online Main Examination will subsequently be called for Regional Language Test to be conducted by the Company, at select centres. The name and address of the Centre, time & date of this test will be informed to the shortlisted candidates on our website. Candidates applying for vacancy under State / UT other than their domiciled State / UT, have to appear and qualify the Regional Language Test in the language of State / UT for which they have applied.

  • Candidates are required to download their call letters for the Regional Language Test from the Company’s website.
  • Please note that any request regarding change in date, time, centre etc. will not be entertained.
  • However, the Company reserves the right to change the date / time / venue / centre etc. of this test or hold a supplementary process for particular date / session / venue / centre / set of candidates at its discretion, under unforeseen circumstances, if any.
  • The Regional Language Test will be of qualifying nature only. No Scores will be allotted for the same.

The scores obtained by the candidates in the Online Main Examination will be considered while arriving at the Final Ranking subject to their qualifying the Regional Language Test. Candidate should be sufficiently high in the Merit List to be shortlisted for subsequent Recruitment process.

How To Apply

HOW TO APPLY:

Candidates can apply online only from 18th July 2026 to 07th August 2026 (both days inclusive) and no other mode of application will be accepted.

No other mode of application would be accepted, and such applications would be rejected.

I. IMPORTANT POINTS TO BE NOTED BEFORE REGISTRATION

Before applying online, candidates should

i. Scan their

o Photograph (4.5 cm x 3.5 cm)

o Signature (on white paper with black ink)

o Left thumb Impression (on white paper with black or blue ink)

o A Handwritten Declaration (on white paper with black ink) (text given below). ensuring that all these scanned documents adhere to the required specifications as given in Point C (In the detailed notification).

ii. Signature in CAPITAL LETTERS will NOT be accepted.

iii. The Left Thumb Impression should be properly scanned and not smudged (If a candidate is not having left thumb, he / she may use his / her right thumb for applying).

iv. The text for the hand written declaration is as follows :- “I, ___________ (Name of the candidate), hereby declare that all information submitted by me in the application form is correct, true and valid. I will present the supporting documents as and when required.”

v. The above mentioned a hand written declaration has to be in the candidate’s handwriting and in English only and should not be in Capital letters. If it is written and uploaded by anybody else or in any other language, the application will be considered as invalid. (In the case of Visually Impaired candidates who cannot write may get the text of declaration typed and put their left-hand thumb impression below the typed declaration and upload the document as per specifications). vi. Keep the necessary details / documents ready to make Online Payment of the requisite application fee / intimation charges.

vii. Have a valid personal email ID and mobile no., which should be kept active till the completion of this Recruitment Process. Company may send intimation for pre-recruitment training, call letters for the online examinations, Regional Language Test etc. through the registered e-mail ID/ mobile number. In case a candidate does not have a valid personal e-mail ID/ mobile number, he/she should create his/her new e-mail ID and take a mobile no. in his/her name before applying on-line and must maintain that email account and mobile number.

A. APPLICATION REGISTRATION:

Candidates are advised to satisfy themselves before they apply that they fulfill the requirements as to Age, Educational Qualifications and other eligibility criteria and that the particulars furnished by him/ her are correct in all respects. If found ineligible their candidature will be cancelled at any stage of recruitment.

1. Candidates have to go to the Company’s website https://nationalinsurance.nic.co.in/ and click on the option "APPLY ONLINE" under the “RECRUITMENT” section which will open a new screen.

2. To register application, choose the tab "Click here for New Registration" and enter Name, Contact details and Email-id. A Provisional Registration Number and Password will be generated by the system and displayed on the screen. Candidate should note down the Provisional Registration Number and Password. An Email & SMS indicating the Provisional Registration number and Password will also be sent.

3. In case the candidate is unable to complete the application form in one go, he / she can save the data already entered by choosing "SAVE AND NEXT" tab. Prior to submission of the online application candidates are advised to use the "SAVE AND NEXT" facility to verify the details in the online application form and modify the same if required. Visually Impaired candidates should fill the application form carefully and verify/ get the details verified to ensure that the same are correct prior to final submission.

4. Candidates are advised to carefully fill and verify the details filled in the online application themselves as no change will be possible/ entertained after clicking the “COMPLETE REGISTRATION” button.

5. The Name of the candidate and his /her Father/ Husband etc. should be spelt correctly in the application and should be the same as it appears in the Certificates/ Mark sheets as well as on the Identity Proof. Any change/alteration found may disqualify the candidature.

6. Validate your details and Save your application by clicking the “VALIDATE YOUR DETAILS” and “SAVE & NEXT” button.

7. Candidates can proceed to upload Photo & Signature as per the specifications given in the Guidelines for Scanning and Upload of Photograph and Signature detailed under point "C".

8. Candidates can proceed to fill other details of the Application Form.

9. Click on the Preview Tab to preview and verify the entire application form before “COMPLETE REGISTRATION”.

10. Modify details, if required, and click on “COMPLETE REGISTRATION” ONLY after verifying and ensuring that the photograph, signature has been uploaded and other details filled by you are correct.

11. Click on “PAYMENT” Tab and proceed for payment.

12. Click on “SUBMIT” button.

B. PAYMENT OF FEES (ONLINE MODE ONLY):

1. The application form is integrated with the payment gateway and the payment process can be completed by following the instructions.

2. The payment can be made by using Debit Cards (RuPay/Visa/MasterCard/Maestro), Credit Cards, Internet Banking, IMPS, Cash Cards/ Mobile Wallets

3. After submitting your payment information in the online application form, PLEASE WAIT FOR THE INTIMATION FROM THE SERVER. DO NOT PRESS BACK OR REFRESH BUTTON IN ORDER TO AVOID DOUBLE CHARGE.

4. On successful completion of the transaction, an e-Receipt will be generated.

5. Non-generation of 'E-Receipt' indicates PAYMENT FAILURE. On failure of payment, Candidates are advised to login again using their Provisional Registration Number and Password and repeat the process of payment.

6. Candidates are required to take a printout of the e-Receipt and online Application Form containing fee details. Please note that if the same cannot be generated, online transaction may not have been successful.

7. For Credit Card users: All charges are listed in Indian Rupee. If you use a non-Indian credit card, your bank will convert it to your local currency based on prevailing exchange rates.

8. To ensure the security of your data, please close the browser window once your transaction is completed.

9. There is facility to print application form containing fee details after payment of fees.

Emoluments:

Total Gross emoluments works out to approximately Rs.53,000/- per month in the initial stage in a Metro city. Other Allowance may vary depending upon the place of posting.

Apart from allowances, other benefits such as Lump sum Domiciliary Medical Benefit, Membership of Group Mediclaim Policy for Reimbursement of Hospitalization expenses, Leave Travel Subsidy and other Staff welfare schemes would be as per the rules of the Company.

Eligibility Criteria

ELIGIBILITY CRITERIA

NATIONALITY:

A candidate applying for recruitment in the Company must be either:

a) a citizen of India, or

b) a subject of Nepal, or

c) a subject of Bhutan, or

d) a Tibetan refugee who came over to India before 1st January, 1962 with the intention of permanently settling in India, or

e) a person of Indian origin who has migrated from Pakistan, Burma, Sri Lanka, East African countries of Kenya, Uganda, the United Republic of Tanzania, Zambia, Malawi, Zaire, Ethiopia and Vietnam with the intention of permanently settling in India.

Provided that a candidate belonging to categories (b), (c), (d) and (e) shall be a person in whose favour a certificate of eligibility has been issued by the Government of India

AGE (as on 01.07.2026)

Minimum Age: 21 years;

Maximum Age: 30 years (as on 01.07.2026. Candidates born not earlier than 02.07.1996 and not later than 01.07.2005 (both days inclusive) are only eligible to apply.

i. Cumulative age relaxation will not be available either under the above items or in combination with any other items.

ii. Candidates seeking age relaxation will be required to submit copies of necessary certificate(s) and produce the original certificate(s) for verification at the time of Regional Language Test and/or any subsequent stage of recruitment process.

Note for Ex-Servicemen

I. In case of an Ex-serviceman who has once joined in a Govt. job on the civil side after availing the benefits given to him as an Ex-serviceman for his reemployment, his Ex-servicemen status for the purpose of re-employment in Government ceases. However, he/she will be eligible for age relaxation as applicable to Ex-servicemen.

II. An Ex- serviceman, who applies for various vacancies before joining any civil employment, can avail the benefit of reservation as ex-serviceman for any subsequent employment. However, to avail of this benefit, an Ex-serviceman, as soon as he/she joins any civil employment, should give selfdeclaration/undertaking to the concerned employer about the date-wise details of application for various vacancies for which he/she had applied for before joining the initial civil employment. Further, this benefit would be available only in respect of vacancies which are filled on direct recruitment and wherever reservation is applicable to the Ex-servicemen.

EDUCATIONAL QUALIFICATION (as on 01.07.2026):

A candidate must possess the minimum qualification of Graduation in any discipline from a recognized University or any equivalent qualification recognized as such by the Central Government. Candidate should possess certificate in proof of passing the qualifying examination as on 01.07.2026.

The Date of passing eligibility will be the date appearing on the marksheet or provisional certificate issued by the University/ Institute, In case the result of a particular examination is posted on the website of the University/ Institute, a certificate issued by the appropriate authority of the University/ Institute indicating the date on which the result was posted on their website will be taken as the date of passing.

Knowledge of Reading, Writing and Speaking of Regional Language of the State / UT against the vacancies for which a candidate wishes to apply, is essential. To ascertain the candidate‘s familiarity with the Regional Language of the State / UT, a Regional Language Test will be conducted before final selection. Candidates not found to be proficient in the Regional Language Test would be disqualified.

Candidates are advised to satisfy themselves before they apply that they fulfill the requirements as to Age, Educational Qualifications and other eligibility criteria and if found ineligible their candidature will be cancelled at any stage of recruitment. Appearing in the ONLINE EXAMINATION & REGIONAL LANGUAGE TEST will not automatically confer any right of being selected for the said post.

DOWNLOAD OF CALL LETTERS:

  • Candidates will have to visit our website https://nationalinsurance.nic.co.in/ for downloading call letters for online test (separately for Preliminary (Phase-I) and Main (Phase II) examinations) & Regional Language Test.
  • Intimation for downloading call letter will also be sent through email/SMS.
  • Once the candidate clicks the relevant link, he/she can access the window for call letter download.
  • The candidate is required to use
    • (i) Registration Number/Roll Number,
    • (ii) Password/Date of Birth for downloading the call letter.
  • Candidate needs to affix recent recognizable photograph on the call letter preferably the same as provided during registration and appear at the examination centre with
    • (i) Call Letter
    • (ii) Photo Identity Proof in original as stipulated earlier under Identity Verification and also specified in the call letter and
    • iii) a photocopy of the same Photo Identity Proof as brought in original.
