SELECTION PROCESS

Selection of candidates who apply for engagement of apprentices in the Bank after paying the requisite online examination fee to BFSI SSC shall have to undergo the selection process, which would comprise the following:

The online examination will consist of five tests i.e., General/ Financial Awareness, General English, Quantitative & Reasoning Aptitude, Computer or subject Knowledge and Union Bank of India’s products and services.

Proficiency Test of Local Language:

The candidate applying for vacancies of a particular state, should be proficient (reading, writing, speaking and understanding) in any one of the local languages of that state as specified. Selected candidates will have to produce their 10th /12th standard mark sheet / certificate evidencing having studied the opted local language. In ability to produce certificate evidencing having studied the opted local language will then require to give a test of local language.

(iii) Revenue Officer not below the rank of Tehsildar (iv) Sub-divisional officer of the Area where the candidate and or his family normally resides.

For EWS Candidates:

Income and Asset Certificate issued by any one of the Authorities as notified by the Government of India in the prescribed format for the relevant financial year i.e. valid for FY 2025-26 or later.

Final Selection will be subject to:

a) Meeting the Cut off marks (as decided by Bank) in the examination.

b) Satisfactory verification of the documents related to DOB/Category/Educational Qualification satisfying the eligibility criteria for an apprentice compared with the information furnished in the application b) Submission of certificate/Passing of test evidencing proficiency of a local language.

c) Submission of a Medically fit Certificate from a practicing registered General Physician.

Results:

List of all candidates shortlisted and finally selected will published on www.unionbankofindia.bank.in and also the shortlisted and selected candidates will receive an email communication from BFSI SSC guiding them on further action to be taken on the respective apprenticeship portals.

HOW TO APPLY

GUIDELINES FOR FILLING APPLICATION & PAYMENT OF FEES: [ONLINE MODE ONLY]:

i. Candidates are requested to apply Online through the link given on the website www.unionbankofindia.bank.in/recruitment.aspx (The application link will open website of BFSI Sector Skill Council of India (BFSI SSC) for applying for apprentices) or https://beep.bfsissc.com/candidate_register/mkt

ii. Hard copy of application and other documents not to be sent to this office.

iii. All interested candidates in applying for the apprenticeship program need to ensure their eligibility before applying for the program.

iv. All Applicants are required to click on https://beep.bfsissc.com/candidate_login :

a. Provide complete personal and educational information

b. Upload all relevant documents (Caste certificate, PwBD certificate, etc., as applicable)

c. Provide their NAPS Apprentices Code Number and NATS Enrolment Number, if available.

d. Submit the Application Online

e. Make payment of the applicable examination fee as per the category specified below

Candidates have to register themselves on NATS portal by clicking on https://nats.education.gov.in/student_type.php After the candidates have registered on NATS they have to provide NATS Enrolment Code Number while filling the online application form. vii. All candidates are supposed to remember their respective login id and passwords of the apprenticeship portals as applicable to them, as they will be repetitively visiting the apprenticeship portals for various activities till their completion of the Apprenticeship program.

viii. Pre-requisites for Applying Online: Candidates should have a valid email ID and mobile no. which should be kept active till the declaration of results. It will help him/her in receiving intimation letter/advice etc. by email/SMS.

ix. Candidates also have to register themselves on NAPS portal by clicking on https://www.apprenticeshipindia.gov.in/ and provide NAPS Apprentice Code Number while filling the online application form. x. It is very IMPORTANT for all candidates who have applied need to MAKE NOTE of their Apprentice Registration Code (issued by NAPS portal) and Enrolment Id (issued by NATS portal). For all your future correspondence this information will be required.

xi. Examination Fee can be paid by using debit card/credit card /internet banking/UPI by providing information as asked on the screen. Transaction charges for online payment, if any, will be borne by the candidates.

xii. On successful completion of transaction, an e-receipt would be sent to the registered email id.

xiii. If the online transaction is not successfully completed, the candidate must reinitiate the payment by login into https://beep.bfsissc.com/candidate_login

The number of training seats mentioned above is provisional and may vary according to the actual requirement of the Bank. Reservation guidelines as laid down by Government of India from time to time for SC/ST/OBC/PWD etc. at respective states will be followed

STIPEND/ BENEFIT:

i. The engaged apprentices are eligible for following stipend per month for the contract period of 01 (one) year.

iii. The Stipend will be paid to apprentices on completion of each month after adjusting un authorized absence, if any.

Eligibility Criteria

ELIGIBILITY CRITERIA

NATIONALITY / CITIZENSHIP

A candidate must be either (i) a Citizen of India or (ii) a subject of Nepal or (iii) subject of Bhutan or (iv) a Tibetan Refugee who came over to India before 01st Jan 1962 with the intention of permanently settling in India or (v) a person of Indian origin who has migrated from Pakistan, Burma, Sri Lanka, East African countries of Kenya, Uganda, the United Republic of Tanzania ( Formerly Tanganyika and Zanzibar), Zambia, Malawi, Zaire, Ethiopia and Vietnam with the intention of permanently settling in India, provided that of a candidates belong to categories (ii), (iii), (iv) & (v) above shall be a person in whose favour a certificate of eligibility has been issued by the Govt. of India.

EDUCATIONAL QUALIFICATION as 01.04.2026:

  • Graduate degree in any discipline from any Institute/ College/ University recognized/ approved by Govt. bodies/ AICTE/ UGC. The result of the qualification must have been declared on or before 01.04.2026 and candidate must produce Mark Sheets and Provisional/ Degree Certificate issued from the University/ College/ Institute as and when required by the Bank. The date of passing Graduation should not be more than 4 years (viz. date of Graduation Marksheet should not be prior to 01.04.2022) preceding to the cut-off date i.e. 01.04.2026.
  • The date of passing of eligibility examination will be the date appearing on the mark sheet or provisional degree issued by the Board / University/ Institute. In case the result of a particular examination is posted on the website of the Board /University/ Institute, a certificate issued by the appropriate authority of the Board / University/ Institute indicating the date on which the result was posted on the website will be taken as the date of passing.
  • Calculation of Percentage: The percentage marks shall be arrived at by dividing the total marks obtained by the candidate in all the subjects in all the semester(s)/ year(s) by aggregate maximum marks in all subjects irrespective of honors /optional/ additionally optional subject, if any. This will be applicable for those Universities also where Class/ Grade is decided on basis of Honors only. The fraction of percentage so arrived will be ignored i.e. 59.99% will be treated as 60%.

CONTRACT OF APPRENTICESHIP:

a) Candidates found eligible for engagement on the basis of merit list shall be offered engagement digitally by the Bank through the appropriate apprenticeship portal.

b) Candidates receiving the offer of apprenticeship online from the Bank need to accept it on the portal within a stipulated time/date.

c) The apprenticeship training shall be deemed to have commenced from the training start date mentioned on the contract of apprenticeship.

DURATION OF TRAINING:

Duration of training is of one year from the date of contract. The apprentice shall be imparted On Job Training on various aspects of banking practices, products and processes.

Note: This is not an employment in the Bank and are prohibited from joining / forming any Union Body

TRAINING CONDITION/ OVERTIME/LEAVE/ HOLIDAYS:

i. Apprentice shall be entitled to such holidays as are observed in the Bank.

ii. Apprentice shall be entitled to One casual Leave on completion of one month of Apprenticeship. No other type of leave is applicable for the Apprentices.

iii. Apprentice can avail only 4 casual leaves at a time. Leave accumulated, if any will automatically get exhausted on termination/completion of contract.

iv. The daily hours of training will be as applicable to the clerical staff of the Bank.

v. No apprentice shall be allowed for overtime.

Conduct and Discipline:

As per Section 17 of Apprentices Act, 1961 amended from time to time, in all matter of Conduct and Discipline, the apprentice shall be governed by the ‘Rules and procedure for disciplinary action against staff’ of Union Bank of India.

Assessment and Certification:

After completion of apprentices training, apprentices will need to go through an assessment test. The certificate will be awarded to apprentices who pass the assessment.

Termination of Apprenticeship Contract:

  • The Contract of Apprenticeship shall be terminated if the apprentice does not report at the Bank’s Training venue / Bank Branch on the date of commencement of On-the-Job training.
  • The Contract of Apprenticeship shall automatically get terminated on expiry of the period of Apprenticeship Training and no separate notice of termination of contract will be issued by Bank.
  • Bank or the Apprentice can make an application to the Apprenticeship Advisor for the termination of contract before the completion of Apprenticeship period stating clearly the reason for termination. When such application is made, the copy of the same shall be sent by post/email to the other party.
  • Apprenticeship Advisor may, by order in writing, terminate the contract, if he is satisfied that the apprentice or the Bank has failed to carry out the terms and conditions of the contract.

TERMS AND CONDITIONS FOR ENGAGEMENT OF APPRENTICES:

(i) The Candidate should NOT have undergone Apprenticeship either in Union Bank of India or in any other organization earlier or pursuing Apprenticeship Training as per the Apprenticeship Act 1961 as amended.

(ii) Candidates who had under gone apprenticeship training or has a job experience for a period of one year or more after the attainment of the educational qualifications, shall NOT be eligible for being engaged as Apprentices.

(iii) Union Bank of India shall have no obligation to offer regular employment to Apprentices during and/or after the completion of the apprenticeship period. After completion of Apprenticeship period, candidates will be relieved from the respective work area.

(iv) The decision of the Bank will be final and binding on all candidates on all matters relating to eligibility, acceptance or rejection of applications, mode of selection, cancellation of the selection process either in part or full etc. No correspondence will be entertained in this regard. Filling up of the seats is solely at the discretion of the Bank based on suitability of candidates and no claim will arise for engagement, if some of these seats are not filled due to unsuitability / insufficient number of candidates.

(v) Every apprentice undergoing apprenticeship training in our Bank shall be a trainee and NOT a worker and as such the provisions of any law with respect to labour shall not apply to or in relation to such apprentice.

(vi) Candidates who were previously terminated from Apprenticeship training by any establishment due to their own misconduct or fault shall NOT be eligible.

(vii) If the Apprentice wants to leave the apprenticeship training in between the Contract period, he/she is to be allowed to leave only at the end of every month.

(viii) Bank has sole discretion of allotment of training seats irrespective of area (Branch/Offices) category.

(ix) The Apprentices engaged by the Bank will not be provided with any Transport / Hostel facility or any other form of residential accommodation during Apprentice training.

(x) The provision of any law with respect to Labour such as PF, ESI, Bonus shall NOT be applicable to or in relation to such apprenticeship.

(xi) The Apprentices are prohibited from joining / forming any Union Body.

(xii) Any disagreement or dispute between the Bank and the Apprentice arising out of contract shall be referred to the Apprenticeship Advisor.

(xiii) Any legal proceedings in respect of any matter of claim or dispute arising out of this advertisement and/or an application in response thereto can be instituted only in Mumbai and courts/tribunals/forums at Mumbai only shall have sole and exclusive jurisdiction to try any cause/dispute.

(xiv) All other terms and conditions of Apprenticeship not expressly mentioned in the policy document shall be as prescribed under the Apprentices Act 1961 and Apprenticeship Rules 1992 as amended from time to time.

(xv) BANK RESERVES RIGHT TO CANCEL THE SELECTION PROCESS/ ENGAGEMENT OF APPRENTICE AT ANY STAGE.
