1. On the occasion of Sant Ravidas Jayanti, the Prime Minister announced the renaming of Adampur Airport to 'Shri Guru Ravidas Maharaj Ji Airport', in honor of his 649th birth anniversary. A new green terminal building at Halwara Airport in Ludhiana was also inaugurated. This terminal will facilitate the movement of larger aircraft and provide improved connectivity for Punjab's industrial and agricultural sectors. It incorporates energy-efficient and environmentally friendly design features. Prime Minister Narendra Modi unveiled the new name on February 1, 2026, coinciding with the 649th birth anniversary of Sant Guru Ravidas.
संत रविदास जयंती के अवसर पर, प्रधानमंत्री ने आदमपुर हवाई अड्डे का नया नाम 'श्री गुरु रविदास महाराज जी हवाई अड्डा' घोषित किया, जो उनकी 649वीं जयंती के सम्मान में रखा गया है। लुधियाना स्थित हलवारा हवाई अड्डे पर नए ग्रीन टर्मिनल भवन का भी उद्घाटन किया गया। यह टर्मिनल बड़े विमानों के आवागमन को सुगम बनाएगा और पंजाब के उद्योग और कृषि क्षेत्र के लिए बेहतर कनेक्टिविटी प्रदान करेगा। इसमें ऊर्जा-कुशल और पर्यावरण-अनुकूल डिजाइन का उपयोग किया गया है। प्रधानमंत्री नरेंद्र मोदी ने 1 फरवरी 2026 को संत गुरु रविदास की 649वीं जयंती के अवसर पर इस नए नाम का अनावरण किया।
2. India will host the first Global Big Cat Summit in 2026, with leaders from 95 countries participating to promote cooperation on big cat conservation. This summit is being held following the establishment of the International Big Cat Alliance (IBCA), which focuses on the collective conservation of species such as tigers, lions, and leopards. India initiated this global alliance for the conservation of the world's seven major big cats—the tiger, lion, leopard, snow leopard, cheetah, jaguar, and puma. India is leading this alliance, and its headquarters are also located in India.
भारत 2026 में पहले वैश्विक बिग कैट शिखर सम्मेलन का आयोजन करेगा, जिसमें 95 देशों के नेता बिग कैट संरक्षण पर सहयोग को बढ़ावा देने के लिए भाग लेंगे। यह शिखर सम्मेलन IBCA की स्थापना के बाद आयोजित किया जा रहा है, जो बाघ, शेर, तेंदुए आदि प्रजातियों के सामूहिक संरक्षण पर केंद्रित है। भारत ने दुनिया की 7 प्रमुख बड़ी बिल्लियों (Big Cats)— बाघ, शेर, तेंदुआ, हिम तेंदुआ (Snow Leopard), चीता, जगुआर और प्यूमा के संरक्षण के लिए इस वैश्विक गठबंधन की शुरुआत की। भारत इस गठबंधन का नेतृत्व कर रहा है और इसका मुख्यालय भी भारत में ही स्थित है।
3. Indian Railways has launched its first LNG (Liquefied Natural Gas)-diesel dual-fuel DEMU (Diesel Electric Multiple Unit) train. Under this initiative, the coaches of a 1,400 HP DEMU train have been converted to a dual-fuel system, utilizing liquefied natural gas (LNG) to replace approximately 40 percent of the conventional diesel consumption. This system reduces CO₂ and NOx emissions, improves air quality, and offers economic benefits in regular passenger service. The dual-fuel engine is an advanced technology that simultaneously uses conventional diesel along with natural gas (LNG/CNG) or other alternative fuels.

4. Defence Minister Rajnath Singh approved the grant of Miniratna Category-I status to Yantra India Limited (YIL) on February 2, 2026. This recognition is a significant achievement for the Defence Public Sector Undertaking (DPSU), which was formed in 2021 after the corporatization of the Ordnance Factory Board. As a Miniratna Category-I company, the YIL board can now approve capital expenditure of up to ₹500 crore for new projects and modernization without prior government approval. The criteria for Miniratna Category-I status include: The company must have consistently earned profits for the last 3 years. Net Worth: The company's net worth must be positive. Debt: The company must not have defaulted on any loan or interest payments to the government.

6. The 13th edition of the joint military exercise "Khanjar" between India and Kyrgyzstan is scheduled to be held from February 4 to 17, 2026, in Misamari, Assam. The exercise aims to enhance coordination between the special forces of both countries, focusing on joint operations in urban warfare and counter-terrorism scenarios under the United Nations mandate. Exercise Khanjar is an annual joint special forces military exercise between India and Kyrgyzstan, which commenced in 2011.

7. Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis inaugurated India's first Bharat Ratna Dr. Babasaheb Ambedkar Advocate Training and Research Centre in Taloja, Navi Mumbai. Established by the Maharashtra and Goa Bar Council, the centre aims to bridge the gap between legal education and courtroom practice and strengthen the legal profession. Senior members of the judiciary were present at the event, and tributes were paid to the late Deputy Chief Minister Ajit Pawar.

9. Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel launched the Chief Minister's Gramotthan Yojana (Village Development Scheme) from Bhadran in Anand district, aiming for urban-style rural development. In the first phase, 114 taluka headquarters villages have been included, where roads, drainage systems, solar-powered streetlights, and e-governance services will be provided. The foundation stone was also laid for 2,666 Gram Panchayat office-cum-Talati (village accountant) residential buildings, to be constructed at a cost of ₹663 crore. The objective is to provide urban-level facilities in the state's villages. This initiative aims to bridge the gap between urban and rural areas and accelerate inclusive development.
मुख्यमंत्री भूपेंद्र पटेल ने शहरी शैली के ग्रामीण विकास के लिए आनंद जिले के भद्रन से मुख्यमंत्री ग्रामोत्थान योजना का शुभारंभ किया। पहले चरण में 114 तालुका मुख्यालय वाले गांवों को शामिल किया गया है, जहाँ सड़कें, जल निकासी व्यवस्था, सौर ऊर्जा से चलने वाली बत्तियां और ई-ग्राम सेवाएं उपलब्ध कराई जाएंगी। 663 करोड़ रुपये की लागत से बनने वाले 2,666 ग्राम पंचायत घर-सह-तलाटी आवास भवनों की आधारशिला रखी गई। जिसका उद्देश्य राज्य के गांवों में शहरी स्तर की सुविधाएं उपलब्ध कराना है। इस पहल के जरिए शहरी और ग्रामीण क्षेत्रों के बीच का अंतर कम करने और समावेशी विकास को गति देने का प्रयास किया जा रहा है।
