IBPS Clerk Eligibility Criteria 2026
To apply for Customer Service Associate posts under CRP CSA-XVI, a candidate must satisfy the official nationality, age, educational qualification, computer-literacy and local-language rules. Eligibility is checked with documents even after the examination, so every claim must match the certificates.

Nationality
A candidate must be an Indian citizen, or fall within another nationality category permitted in the notification, including eligible subjects of Nepal or Bhutan, specified Tibetan refugees and eligible persons of Indian origin. Candidates in categories requiring a Government of India eligibility certificate must produce it when required.
Age Limit and Date-of-Birth Window
The basic age limit is 20 to 28 years as on 1 August 2026. A candidate must have been born not earlier than 2 August 1998 and not later than 1 August 2006; both dates are inclusive. Relaxation applies only to eligible categories and must be supported by prescribed documents.

Candidates should use the exact official table for special-category limits and combinations. OBC creamy-layer candidates cannot claim OBC-NCL reservation.
Educational Qualification
A graduation degree in any discipline from a recognised university, or an equivalent qualification recognised by the Government of India, is required. The final result must have been declared on or before 21 August 2026. A final-year student whose qualifying result was not declared by that date is not eligible.
IBPS does not prescribe a minimum graduation percentage. Candidates with CGPA/OGPA must convert it using their university’s official formula and retain conversion proof.
Computer Literacy
Operating and working knowledge of computer systems is mandatory. The notification permits proof through a certificate, diploma or degree in computer operations/language, or through having studied Computer or Information Technology as a subject in school, college or an institute.

State/UT and Local-Language Rule
A candidate can apply for vacancies in only one State or Union Territory and must select an applicable local language. The candidate should be able to read, write, speak and understand it. The LLPT is qualifying. Valid Class 10 or higher proof that the selected language was studied may provide exemption according to the notification.

Documents to Check Before Claiming Eligibility
Check eligibility against the cut-off dates in the current notification and any applicable corrigendum. An extension of the application deadline does not automatically extend the age or qualification cut-off. Your documents must establish the condition as of the date prescribed for that condition.

How to Assess a Final-Year or Recently Graduated Case
Suppose an applicant has completed university examinations but the final result has not been declared by the qualification cut-off. Completing the examination alone does not establish that the degree requirement was met by that date. Conversely, where the result was declared by the cut-off but the degree certificate is issued later, check which provisional or result documents the notification accepts. These are decision examples, not individual eligibility approvals.
Read any extension notice carefully: identify whether it changes only registration dates or expressly changes an eligibility condition. For an unresolved document case, use the official IBPS clarification route and preserve the response.
