The State Bank of India has released the SBI Clerk Notification 2026 for the recruitment of Junior Associates (Customer Support & Sales) in the clerical cadre. According to Advertisement No. CRPD/CR/2026-27/17, eligible Indian citizens can submit the SBI Clerk 2026 online application from 11 August to 31 August 2026.

The official vacancy table contains 7,680 regular vacancies and separately lists 2,086 backlog vacancies, taking the advertised vacancy count under this notification to 9,766. The backlog portion includes 287 SC/ST/OBC vacancies, 355 PwBD vacancies and 1,444 XS/DXS vacancies.

Applicants must satisfy the nationality, age, educational qualification and local-language conditions specified by SBI.

Only eligible Indian citizens can apply for SBI Junior Associate Recruitment 2026.

Cumulative age relaxation is not permitted. Candidates claiming relaxation must produce the prescribed supporting certificates.

Educational Qualification

Candidates must possess a graduation degree in any discipline from a recognised university or an equivalent qualification recognised by the Central Government.

Candidates in the final year or semester of graduation can also apply provisionally. If selected, they must provide evidence that they passed graduation on or before 31 December 2026.

Candidates holding an Integrated Dual Degree must ensure that their passing date is on or before 31 December 2026.

The notification does not prescribe a minimum graduation percentage.

SBI Clerk Local Language Requirement

Candidates must be able to read, write, speak and understand the local language selected for the State or UT for which they apply.

Candidates who can prove through their Class 10 or Class 12 certificate that they studied the selected local language will not have to appear for the Local Language Proficiency Test.

Other provisionally selected candidates must qualify the language test before joining. Failure to qualify will result in cancellation of the appointment offer.

SBI Clerk Selection Process 2026

The SBI Clerk selection process consists of:

  1. Preliminary Examination
  2. Main Examination
  3. Local Language Proficiency Test, wherever applicable

There is no interview in SBI Clerk Recruitment.

Marks obtained in the Preliminary Examination will not be counted for final selection. The final State-wise and category-wise merit list will be prepared using the aggregate marks obtained in the Main Examination, subject to qualification in the local language test and document verification.

SBI Clerk Salary 2026

The SBI Junior Associate pay scale is:

The starting basic pay for a graduate Junior Associate is ₹26,730, which includes two advance increments admissible to graduates.

The approximate starting monthly emoluments at a metro location such as Mumbai are around ₹46,000, including dearness allowance and other applicable allowances. Actual salary may vary according to the place of posting.

Selected employees may also receive benefits such as provident fund, pension under the applicable defined-contribution scheme, medical benefits, leave-fare reimbursement and other facilities according to SBI rules.

SBI Clerk Probation Period

Newly appointed Junior Associates will remain on probation for a minimum of six months. They must complete the e-learning modules prescribed by SBI during probation.

The probation period may be extended if a candidate fails to complete the required modules or does not meet SBI’s performance expectations.

SBI Clerk Job Profile

SBI Clerk Transfer Rules

Candidates can apply for only one State or Union Territory, and their merit will be prepared for that State and category.

There is no provision for inter-circle or inter-state transfer before completing five years of service. Even after five years, transfer requests may be considered only in exceptional situations and according to the applicable SBI transfer policy.

SBI Clerk Pre-Examination Training
