SBI Clerk Notification 2026 Out for 9,766 Vacancies: Apply Online, State-Wise Vacancy, Eligibility and Exam Date

The State Bank of India has released the SBI Clerk Notification 2026 for the recruitment of Junior Associates (Customer Support & Sales) in the clerical cadre. According to Advertisement No. CRPD/CR/2026-27/17, eligible Indian citizens can submit the SBI Clerk 2026 online application from 11 August to 31 August 2026.

The official vacancy table contains 7,680 regular vacancies and separately lists 2,086 backlog vacancies, taking the advertised vacancy count under this notification to 9,766. The backlog portion includes 287 SC/ST/OBC vacancies, 355 PwBD vacancies and 1,444 XS/DXS vacancies.

Candidates can apply for vacancies in only one State or Union Territory. They must also be proficient in the specified local language of the State or UT selected in the application.

The SBI Clerk Preliminary Examination is tentatively scheduled for September 2026, while the Main Examination is expected to be held in November 2026.

SBI activated the Junior Associate application link on 11 August 2026. Candidates who have completed graduation, or will complete it by 31 December 2026, can apply subject to fulfilment of the age and other eligibility requirements.

The official designation is Junior Associate (Customer Support & Sales), although the recruitment is commonly searched as SBI Clerk Recruitment 2026.

Candidates should use only the official SBI Careers page and authorised application link for registration.

The official notification does not provide a single grand-total cell. It separately provides regular vacancies and different types of backlog vacancies.

PwBD and ex-servicemen reservations are horizontal reservations. Candidates should carefully check their parent category, State/UT and applicable reservation before submitting the form.

The vacancies are provisional and may change depending on SBI’s actual requirements.

Nationality

Only eligible Indian citizens can apply for SBI Junior Associate Recruitment 2026.

SBI Clerk Age Limit 2026

The age limit will be calculated as on 1 April 2026.

• Minimum age: 20 years
• Maximum age: 28 years
• Candidate must have been born between 2 April 1998 and 1 April 2006, inclusive.

SBI Clerk Age Relaxation

Cumulative age relaxation is not permitted. Candidates claiming relaxation must produce the prescribed supporting certificates.

Educational Qualification

Candidates must possess a graduation degree in any discipline from a recognised university or an equivalent qualification recognised by the Central Government.

Candidates in the final year or semester of graduation can also apply provisionally. If selected, they must provide evidence that they passed graduation on or before 31 December 2026.

Candidates holding an Integrated Dual Degree must ensure that their passing date is on or before 31 December 2026.

The notification does not prescribe a minimum graduation percentage.

Candidates must be able to read, write, speak and understand the local language selected for the State or UT for which they apply.

Candidates who can prove through their Class 10 or Class 12 certificate that they studied the selected local language will not have to appear for the Local Language Proficiency Test.

Other provisionally selected candidates must qualify the language test before joining. Failure to qualify will result in cancellation of the appointment offer.

The SBI Clerk selection process consists of:

1. Preliminary Examination
2. Main Examination
3. Local Language Proficiency Test, wherever applicable

There is no interview in SBI Clerk Recruitment.

Marks obtained in the Preliminary Examination will not be counted for final selection. The final State-wise and category-wise merit list will be prepared using the aggregate marks obtained in the Main Examination, subject to qualification in the local language test and document verification.

Prelims Key Points

• Each section has a separate time limit.
• One-fourth of the marks assigned to a question will be deducted for every wrong answer.
• No minimum qualifying marks are prescribed for an individual section.
• No minimum aggregate qualifying marks are prescribed at the preliminary stage.

Eligible trained SBI apprentices may receive five bonus marks in the Main Examination, subject to fulfilment of all conditions specified in the notification.

This test is qualifying in nature and is conducted only for candidates who cannot produce acceptable proof of having studied the selected language in Class 10 or Class 12.

The fee is non-refundable. Any online transaction charges must be paid by the candidate.

Upload Specifications

Candidates must also capture and upload a live photograph through a webcam or mobile phone.

The declaration must be written in English using black ink. Signature and declaration written entirely in capital letters will not be accepted. Candidates should copy the declaration exactly as printed in Annexure II of the official notification.

The SBI Junior Associate pay scale is:

₹24,050-1,340/3-28,070-1,650/3-33,020-2,000/4-41,020-2,340/7-57,400-4,400/1-61,800-2,680/1-64,480

The starting basic pay for a graduate Junior Associate is ₹26,730, which includes two advance increments admissible to graduates.

The approximate starting monthly emoluments at a metro location such as Mumbai are around ₹46,000, including dearness allowance and other applicable allowances. Actual salary may vary according to the place of posting.

Selected employees may also receive benefits such as provident fund, pension under the applicable defined-contribution scheme, medical benefits, leave-fare reimbursement and other facilities according to SBI rules.

Newly appointed Junior Associates will remain on probation for a minimum of six months. They must complete the e-learning modules prescribed by SBI during probation.

The probation period may be extended if a candidate fails to complete the required modules or does not meet SBI’s performance expectations.

A Junior Associate may be required to:

• Handle customer-support operations
• Provide routine banking services
• Assist customers with banking products
• Make customer calls
• Cross-sell banking and financial products
• Provide basic advisory services
• Work inside or outside the branch premises
• Travel for official work when required
• Work flexible hours or shifts according to operational requirements

Candidates should understand that SBI Clerk is a customer-facing banking and sales-support position.

Candidates can apply for only one State or Union Territory, and their merit will be prepared for that State and category.

There is no provision for inter-circle or inter-state transfer before completing five years of service. Even after five years, transfer requests may be considered only in exceptional situations and according to the applicable SBI transfer policy.

SBI will provide online pre-examination training to eligible SC, ST, OBC, PwBD and ex-servicemen category candidates according to Government of India guidelines.
